Business opportunities in Inverness

Inverness Airport is 8 miles from the city of Inverness, off the A96 Inverness-Aberdeen trunk road. There are both short and long stay parking facilities which are a short walk from the airport terminal building. Pre-booking is recommended to guarantee a space. There are also car hire companies operating at the airport and a taxi service runnings from outside the terminal. Transport links include a regular bus service which connects the airport with the city centre every half hour and with Nairn hourly. The nearest railway station is in Inverness. The airport has several retail outlets including a Starbucks, World News as well as a restaurant and bar and ATM machine.

Inverness was traditionally a fishing and distilling region, which was followed by the emergence of a shipbuilding and engineering industry. More recently a business sector relating to the oil and timber industry has dominated the city. Inverness is home to The Centre for Health Science, which focuses on healthcare and biotechnology research, training, education and business development. It is located adjacent to the Raigmore Hospital. The city of Inverness has a thriving business community. As well as several business parks and industrial estates in and around the city centre, there is an airport business park conveniently close to the airport. There are 4 business enterprise centres including the Inverness Business Centre and Dochfour Business Centre, and 3 retail parks and outlet and leisure centres.

Conference and business rooms are available for hire at Inverness Airport, offering office facilities including fax machine and photocopier. A catering service is also available, bookable in advance, providing food for large or small business meetings. Several hotels in Inverness offer conference suites for hire. The Dromossie Hotel caters for up to 500 people with theatre style seating and state of the art presentation equipment and communications systems. In addition, there are smaller meeting suites available. The Best Western Inverness Palace Hotel and Spa has 4 different sized meeting rooms, with WIFI internet access, and can cater for up to 100 people. The Inverness Eden Court Theatre and Conference Centre is available for corporate conferences, training courses and business presentations, and has 7 suites catering for up to 850 people. The Caledonian Stadium is a sporting venue on the banks of the Moray Firth, catering for business conferences and business hospitality, and provides 4 main meeting suites for 130 people.
