Classic Cars take to the Streets

Next stop on our events programme is the Classic Vehicle Show on Saturday 14th May which looks set to be another great family day out.

This will be the third year BID have staged this event and it just continues to get bigger and better, attracting people from far and wide to the City centre streets.

Classic and Vintage vehicles will be on display in Church Street, Inglis Street, High Street and Falcon Square. There will also be music and family entertainment and the Parade Finale which leaves from High Street at 3 pm

As well as this free mini city tours by ' City Sightseeing' on their new open tops buses will be leaving from outside the Co-op in Church Street. There will also be rickshaw tours by operator' Happy Tours'

Why is it held on a saturday? the town is already busy and conjested why make it worse? Sunday would be far better

As you will appreciate BID’s role is to create an environment where businesses can be successful. This theme runs through to the events we stage like the Classic Vehicle Show which had the objective to : 1. Bring people to the city centre 2. Move them around the city centre to areas they may not normally go 3. Generate income for the traders. We did originally look at the option of a Sunday but it was decided that there would be more economic benefit to the area on a Saturday as more traders are open on that day. What is pleasing to know is that there was a significant increase in traders sales from holding the Classic Vehicle Show over the comparable day last year.
