Safeinverness implements new text messaging service

Scottish partnership first with new text messaging system
SafeInverness has become the first crime reduction partnership in the UK to implement a fully-integrated SMS text messaging system on its secure Members-only intranet.
Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) - which runs SafeInverness - became Littoralis' 40th customer when it implemented Littoralis' BCRP Intranet last year. Since then the system has been used by the partnership's administrator, Malcolm Raeburn, to manage the distribution of mugshots of 'targeted' and excluded individuals among local BID members, to generate online incident reports, and to maintain a regular communication with members through the built-in automated e-newsletter.
Now Malcolm is the first user of BCRP Intranet's integrated SMS module. "The BRCP intranet system is a vital tool which helps to inform our members about the criminals and crime risks facing their business" he says.
"The SMS messaging system will enhance this by facilitating swifter dissemination of vital information and intelligence. It will also enable businesses without email access to be included in this intelligence flow."
Says Dave Platten, director at Littoralis: "Some of our customers, like Malcolm, have been asking for an integrated SMS messaging system to compliment BCRP Intranet's existing communication facilities. So we are delighted to be able to announce our new SMS Module."
BCRP Intranet users now benefit not only from its automated weekly e-newsletters, and the ability to email all Members in one 'broadcast', but also the new text-messaging system which is ideal for communicating urgent, important messages to Members.
The system is entirely integrated with the intranet. When Members log in from next week they'll be asked if they wish to receive SMS messages from the Partnership and those who wish to do so simply update their account accordingly. The Partnership administrator can also 'manually' add mobile numbers so that the text messages can go to a wider range of recipients, or to Members who cannot - or will not - access the intranet.
Says Platten: "The SMS Module extends the reach of the intranet to one or two large companies who are members of the partnership but who don't like their managers accessing outside websites from their own internal corporate intranets. And of course non-Members' mobile numbers can be added too if appropriate"
