Invitation to hear about "RIVER CONNECTIONS" The River Ness Arts Project

Inverness City Centre BID Businesses invited to input into "RIVER CONNECTIONS" The River Ness Arts Project 

Learn more about RIVER CONNECTIONS a major arts project which will see £750k invested into projects being installed along the River Ness on completion of the Flood Alleviation Works.  These projects will seek to enhance the riverside, link the river and the city and to increase residents & tourists appreciation of the River Ness thus reflecting the importance of Inverness as the Capital of the Highlands.

Speaker:        Cllr Ken Gowans, Chairman of Highland Council’s ICArts Working Group

Date:             Wednesday 12th November, 5.45pm for 6pm finish 7pm

Venue:           Mercure Hotel, Church Street, Inverness – Inverness Suite (lower floor)

Our speaker is Ken Gowans, Chairman of the Highland Council’s ICArts Working Group who will talk about the vision for the project and will seek your input to this development in this crucial part of the city centre.  River Connections proposes 5 artist’s commissions featuring:

• The Gathering Place – a structure to bring people together as a focal point to enjoy the river

• Rest Spaces – relaxation areas designed for individuals or smaller groups

• The Sculptural Destination – an iconic and interactive artwork sited to provide a ‘destination’

• The Trail – Digital or traditional map from Ness Islands to the river mouth with information & stories

• River Connections – a series of interventions set in stone including poetry & seating areas 

This project is funded by Creative Scotland, Highland Council, HIE & Inverness Common Good Fund.After our Speaker there will be a Q&A session giving you the chance to input to the Project.BID would like to thank the Mercure Hotel for their sponsorship of this BID Business Evening which is being held their recently refurbished Inverness SuiteThe event and refreshments are complimentary and we do hope that you will be able to join us.
