BID BREAKFAST 'Inverness Must Offer A Safe & Secure City Centre'

There was a full house at Tuesday’s BID Business Breakfast with the theme “Inverness Must Offer a Safe & Secure City Centre”.

The Event was hosted by Peter Strachan the BID Chairman, and the Guest Speaker was Chief Superintendent George MacDonald, Divisional Commander for the Highlands and Islands, Police Scotland, a native of North West Sutherland, with an extensive policing experience in Aberdeen, particularly around City Centre issues of concern around anti-social behaviour, criminality and disorder, which is attracting some unfavourable criticism and media attention currently in Inverness.

Superintendent MacDonald addressed the welcoming and attentive audience, during which he laid out his partnership approach and plans to improve the City Centre Policing Model by increasing the supervisory and beat officer resources from the current three officers accountable to a Community Beats Sergeant to a deployable Team of a dedicated Sergeant and 8 Constables, working shift patterns from 0700hrs to 2200hrs specifically to deal with the issues affecting the City Centre throughout the daytime into the evening economy
