Inverness Chosen to be part of Healthy High Streets Initiative

INVERNESS CHOSEN TO BE PART OF "HEALTHY HIGH STREETS" CAMPAIGNInverness BID are delighted to have been chosen as one of 3 Scottish town and city centres to take part in a UK initiative to look at ways of revitalising city and town centres.

BANK STREET TO REOPEN FOR JULY & AUGUST

Bank Street will be fully open to traffic for July and August 2014.It will close again to traffic on 1st September until the end of November, when there will be access to Fraser Street as previously to properties and for buses, taxis, refuse and emergency vehicles only.More info on the scheme can be found on the Highland Council's website

BID BUSINESSES INVITED TO MEET NEW CITY CENTRE BEAT POLICE OFFICERS

Police Scotland have now deployed three new dedicated City Centre Police Officers, they are Constables Ross Joy, Samantha Morrison and Ali MacRae. To assist them getting to know staff from city centre businesses, Inverness BID and Police Scotland would like to invite all BID businesses to come along to have a cup of coffee or tea and meet and chat to these police officers.

BID Welcomes Revamp for Rainings Stairs

The Highland Council have today (4.6.14) announced that work to undertake £20,000 of improvements to the Raining Stairs in Inverness will start on Monday 9 June.   Pedestrians are advised that a temporary closure will be in place on the whole or parts of this popular walking route to and from the city centre from 9th June until the works are completed.  The closure of the footpath is to ensure the essential maintenance and improvement works can be carried out safely.

Inverness Classic Vehicle Show 2014 a huge success!

The sixth Inverness Classic Vehicle Show held on Saturday 10th of May was a huge success.  Despite the adverse weather massive crowds were attracted to the city centre to enjoy the display of over 120 vehicles parked on Church Street, High Street, Inglis Street and Falcon Square.  A wide variety of entertainment took place including various musicians, circus skills, face painting, comedy cop & robber, penny farthing as well as free mini City Sightseeing bus tours

FLYBE announces 2 new flights per day from Inverness to London City

Flybe is to offer flights from Inverness to London City Airport after signing a five-year deal.  BID Manager Mike Smith said "It's fantastic for the area and ideal for business commuters" .Flights are due to begin on 27 October and will include daily flights leaving Inverness at 7.15am arriving 9.05am and an evening flight departing Inverness at 17.05pm arriving London City 18.55pm.London City Airport is ideally located for those who need to fly in and out of London quickly and efficiently - just 22 minutes away from Bank and 17 minutes from Stratford.

DisabledGo - Launch of Local Access Guide for Highlands

 The Highland Council has worked with Inverness Access Panel and national disability organisation DisabledGo to provide detailed access information to 1,000 public venues across Inverness and the surrounding wards. All types of venues are covered including leisure centres, libraries, shops, restaurants, cafes, tourist attractions and many more. The guides look at everything from the availability of parking, dimensions and fittings in accessible toilets, lighting levels, staff training, colour contrast and the services on offer.
