Security Task Team to return after successful summer deployment

Following their very successful summer deployment our Security Task Team will once again be out and about in the city centre in October, November & December.By conducting high visibility proactive patrols and working closely with the city centre businesses, Safeinverness, Northern Constabulary and Highland Council, the Task Team assist in providing a co-ordinated response to tackling crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour and improving public reassurance.

Task Team Back on Duty over Summer Period

The BID Security Task Team are back on duty for the summer period  from 11am until 6pm from 2nd July till 1st September (excluding Sundays) The Task team are Security Industry Authority trained personnel who deliver crime reduction, reassurance and support for the retail and licensed trade in the city centre, they work closely with and in partnership with Northern Constabulary, business partners and other agencies. City centre businesses can contact them via  Shopsafe Radio  - Call sign 'Task Team 1'

Scottish Open Golf Taxi Briefing

Taxi Companies and Drivers are invited to attend a briefing in respect of the arrangements and traffic plan for this year’s Open Golf at Castle Stuart.The briefing has been arranged for  Wednesday 27th June commencing at 7pm at Caley Thistle Football Club.Representatives from Castle Stuart, The European Tour and Highland Council will be in attendance. There will be an opportunity to ask questions in respect of the traffic management plan.Please email safe@inverness.uk.com to confirm attendance.

First Steps to Making Inverness a More Coach Friendly CityA new city Coach Park has opened in Inverness which provides secure Coach Parking for touring coach companies.  In welcoming this initiative Mike Smith, BID Manager said “BID has long recognised that group travel is one of the growth areas in tourism.  We have looked at arrangements made for coach operators elsewhere in the UK and this coach park is the start of a series of initiatives offered to improve the services offered to coach operators and their guests.

The Olympic Torch Relay Road Closures

The Olympic Torch Relay The Olympic Flame will arrive in Inverness on Saturday 9 June at 6 pm.  There will be a two-hour celebration at The Northern Meeting Park (5pm - 7.30pm). Doors open at 4 pm.  Star of the show is award-winning Scots singer/songwriter, Emeli Sande. She is due on stage for a 20-minute set at 6.15 pm. The torch is due on stage at 6.50 pm.

Classic Vehicle Show a Fantastic Success!!

A record number of 83 cars turned out for the 4th Classic Vehicle Show on Saturday 12th May.Classic Vehicles lined the city centre streets and entertainment included stilt walkers, unicyclists, salsa dancers and musicians. Kids were also able to take part in circus skills and craftmaking as well as free facepainting being provided.The City Sightseeing bus was extremely popular providing mini tours of the city centre throughout the day.
