BID WELCOMES PLANNING COMMITTEE REJECTION OF HMO APPLICATION

 Inverness BID has welcomed today’s (14th December) decision taken by South Planning Committee to reject a planning application for an HMO in Inverness City Centre at 23 High Street

Student Accommodation at Rose Street welcomed by BID Board

At their meeting yesterday the Board of Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) unanimously welcomed the Planning Officer’s recommendation that planning permission be granted for student accommodation with 100 bedrooms in a phase 2 building adjacent to Rose Street car park. The development also includes provision for the creation of four commercial units on the ground floor level of the block with three proposed as retail outlet

LAUNCH OF FESTIVE OPERATION RESPECT

With the approach of the festive season, multi-agency partners have once again joined forces to support Operation Respect with the aim of making the streets of Inverness safer for shoppers and party goers, both day and night, during the festive season.

Inverness Castle Consultation Launched

Possible uses for Inverness Castle and its surrounding area were presented to the public today when a consultation exhibition opened at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.  The exhibition has also been made available online, recognising the wider interest people have in the castle.

In response to recent comments in the media regarding anti-social behaviour in Inverness City Centre Inverness BID Chairman Craig Duncan has stated that “I and the BID Directors fully understand the concerns and frustration of businesses at the level of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the city centre which whilst they might be caused by a relatively small number of individuals, are unacceptable in what is the Highland’s main commercial and trading centre.

PARKING BOOST FOR CITY CENTRE BUSINESSES

Two city centre car parks are to offer reduced-price parking for shoppers and visitors to Inverness City centre in the run up to Christmas.Highland Council and Eastgate Centre Management have been working with Inverness BID and partners to provide a much needed boost for city centre businesses.

ARCHITECTS APPOINTED TO DESIGN NEW REVAMPED INVERNESS RAILWAY STATION

 Highland Council, transport body Hitrans and Abellio ScotRail have jointly commissioned Dundee-based Nicoll Russell Studios.  The design work could be completed by early next year.
