Operation Respect

As part of Operation Respect, Inverness BID provides the Security Task Team and Taxi Marshals. They are a vital element of Operation Respect and are one of the integral core activities within the partnership.
The BID Security Task team comprised of Security Industry Authority trained personnel, who delivered crime reduction, reassurance and support for the retail and licensed trade in the city centre, they worked closely with and in partnership with Northern Constabulary, business partners and other agencies.
They conducted highly visible patrols of the city centre which were aimed to provide a reduction in crime, disorder and increase public reassurance.
The taxi Marshals are trained Security Industry Authority personnel who by their presence at the three city centre taxi ranks, provided public reassurance, diffused potential incidents, assisted taxi drivers, acted as a deterrent and helped to quickly disperse the public at the conclusion of licensing hours.
The Northern Constabulary Operation Respect evaluation, evidenced that the task team and taxi marshals contributed to a 16.6% reduction in crime in the city centre over the same period last year 2009/2010.
